Ever since Facebook’s React was open sourced at the Javascript Conference in May 2013, it has gone on to shape Front-end development for most developers. 66.9% of devs polled in Stack Overflow’s 2017 Developer Survey ranked it as the most loved Framework, Library, and Other Framework
On its website, React is defined, quite simply, as a Javascript library for building user interfaces. Right underneath that header, a more assertive statement reads:
“React makes it painless to create interactive UIs.”
Of course, doing so can be quite the ordeal without a suitable library or framework. Simply looking at its viral adoption and use makes it clear that React lives up to the hype.
We’ve rounded up a collection of our favorite articles on React: everything from why you should use React to how. Read up and share – and if there are any we missed, let us know!
In this post, PluralSight author Samer Buna digs into why and how React became so popular. The article showcases an example that explains React’s virtual DOM – React’s reconciliation algorithm and one of the reasons for the library’s popularity. “A JavaScript developer can become a productive React developer in a few hours” Samer claims.
Andela Senior developer Temitope explains how to execute React’s Drag and Drop feature by building a simple task manager like Trello.
Osifo Anosike writes a detailed manual of sorts – with a sample project – that explains how to best structure a React native app if you’re thinking of scaling.
Edmond Atto published sneak peak which doubles as the first chapter of the book he is co-authoring with John Kagga title “Vumbula React”. It addresses pertinent questions for a dev who is introing to React and isn’t quite sure how and where to begin.
Sonny Reico starts off this brilliant post by saying, “Hint: it’s not because of the hype” then goes on to do an extensive comparison between Angular and React under several conditions. It may not be the hype, but the hype is apparently there for a reason.
